How to Wear Pantone Colors of the Year: 2016

Yes, you read that right: For the first time, Pantone has introduced two colors as their color of the year: Rose Quartz and Serenity.

We’re not entirely keen on wearing clothing in these colors, but we would absolutely consider accessorizing with them. Rose Quartz and Serenity complement a host of other colors including silver/grey, mint green, navy blue and burgundy, just to name but a few.

We do applaud Pantone for the reasons it chose these colors. According to its website, “…we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.”

So don’t feel shy about mixing in a little Rose Quartz and Serenity into your 2016 look!
